Skill expression and ceiling is still non existent…..
Me and my guys got back on the game when we heard there was some new animations and queued up some ranked. I peaked gold and they were hard stuck bronze. We end up queueing against one of the more known YouTubers for the game and 3 ex masters. Long story short we beat them. Now most people would be excited about that but I’m not because it highlights the clear lack of a skill gap.
It stems 1 major thing. The lack of skill expression on ball. The person with the ball is literally the least dangerous person on the pitch if he’s not in the goalie’s box.
Ranged shots has little to no danger. A players ability to create space from their defender and force a second defender to pick up is near non-existent. And spacing absolutely sucks as well. The culmination of these things force a singular playstyle that is frankly not that fun.
For the game to be taken to the next level, the dev team needs to seriously explore how to create more viable playstyles.
Dribble 1v1 success and dribble penetration need to become more relevant as tools for playmaking.
Also long shots just need to be more dangerous. It will help with spacing which is a big problem as well.
Lastly I suggest a bigger field and 7v7 would be perfect. It’s important to mention that while you make those changes you shouldn’t buff stamina, player speed or anything else that could affect a player’s ability to move around the pitch.
On release this game is sooooooooo close to being an absolute banger. But the hard truth is even though there has been improvements there hasn’t been anything drastic enough to take it to the next level. Just pull the trigger and make it happen.

Also to go into depth about why I think a bigger field and making the game 7v7 would have a great impact I think it allows for more role specialization for players. bigger field means its harder for a player to cover so much of the pitch. it would force players to make decisions about when they can leave one side of the pitch to help their team on the other side. in turn it would definitely help to offset a lot of the clutter players are forced to deal with. right now the box is almost always cluttered. You almost never get any chance to create advantages as players are always so close that a player can "shade" their teammate without risking leaving the man they're marking open. And the only reason I suggest going up to 7 a side is because I suggest making the field at least like 1.5x bigger in all dimensions which I think would be enough space for more players without negating any of the benefits of a bigger field that i've already mentioned.
